What's your favorite board game? I know most of the topics on here are about computer games, so thought it would be good to talk about physical board games as well, because these are fun, too.
When I was younger I used to play a game called Start again. That's a boared game.
Trouble.
What are Start Again and Trouble like? I haven't heard of those. I liked to play connect 4 and snakes and ladders.
i used to play a game called Candy Land, but then, I lost all the pieces. wish I could get that one as an accessible board game. It had been made accessible for me by a bunch of older kids in my elementary school. lots of puffy paint went in to that. The only board game I'm somewhat knowledgeable in is chess, though I don't play it consistently enough to remember where the pieces can and can't move and soforth.
I used to play snakes and ladders to. Start again, 4 people can pla at once. There is diffrent colours Red, Blue, yelly and green. You roll the dice and move he pegs how ever much you get on the dice. Then if you land on top of somebody else they have to go back to the start. That's how it is called Start again.
To the person asking about Trouble, Trouble is a game involving 4 sets of pegs (it's from 2 to 4 players), and the gameboard is a rounded square with peg holes going around the board as well as 4 rows of holes going toard the center. The point is to get your set of 4 pegs around the board and lined up in one of the lines. To move the pegs, there is a bubble in the middle of the gameboard that when you press it, it tosses the dice that is inside of it, and that's how you know how many spaces to move. If you land on a space where an oponent's peg is, they have to move that peg back to the beginning. So that's basically how that game is played.
I liked playing snakes and ladders. My board for that got worn out though because the glitter that was used on the wooden board to mark out the squares and snakes and ladders got scratched away eventually. I also used to have a ludo game. Nymphadora, I like playing chess and have just ordered a tactile chess game from RNIB. I enjoy playing this game quite a bit but haven't really played it for a couple of years.
the game of life rocks! It's much better than monopoly because the money is worth more and it takes less time and it's slightly more realistic.
I liked chess and checkers, the latter I played more when I was younger. I also enjoyed scategories and trivial pursuits. I actually have the Monopoly board memorized. I needed a life when I was a child. *smile*.

scrabble, trouble, and outburst
I forgotabout scrabble. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be able to spell as well as a ten yearold.

I got a game of cludo for christmas 2 or 3 years ago, but there were no braille instructions with it. Someone did try to explain it to me, but I forgot how to play it again now.
jenga, cribbage, scrabble (so sad that my mom sold my scrabble board). I also just bought 2 games from speak to me catalog: say what and freeze up. That freeze up is a fantastic group game. my nephew is at the age where he is starting to understand board games and I like to play trouble with him.
My favourite game is Monolopy. i'm useless at games like chess, but i injoy monopoly for no apparant reason lol
I also like scrabble, but it's annoying when someone goes and loses the pieces.
I used to play Sorry, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, and I also used to play this Babysitters Club game. There was also a game I used to have that had a toy phone and cards with pics of guys and their phonenumbers on them and you would call them to try to find out who liked you. My favorite game is still Monopoly though.
What's freeze up? sounds like fun.
you choose from 2 to 8 players and pass the game around. each person is given a category and a letter. then a 60 second timer starts. you have t o answer the question then press stop to stop the timer. the winner is the last person to have time left on their clock.
I remember the Babysitter's Club game, and a Girl Talk game, that I played with my younger sisters when they were kids. But my favorite board games would have to be Othello (called Reversi sometimes), Trouble (I had a game just like Trouble called Back Up Three), and Monopoly.
I've always wanted to play more board games, but growing up, we never really did. Now, however, it seems my family is in a board game playing craze and its wonderful! Every weekend we play Deal or No Deal, Bubble (the knock-off of Trouble) and Bunko (a dice game). Sometimes, we play in teams, usually Joanie and I against Mom and Grandma. We have alot of laughs and alot of good times. We're playing for money too, so each week, we each put $3 in the pot. Whoever wins the most games by the middle of April wins the money. But to make it more fun, we're diving it between the games. So you could win for one, two, or even all three games. But for me, the joy is in playing then in winning. lol Btw, my favourite is Bunko. I also love Bingo but haven't played it in a long time.
Has anyone heard of perfection? It's a game where you have to get all the shapes into the holes in the time before it runs out. It's a bit of a childish game, probably but I bought it from someone and then found that half the pieces were missing.
Yeah, I used to have Perfection. I think I might still have one somewhere.
I like chess, checkers, parchisii, and my newest favorite game is cranium! It's hard to explain but it is wicked fun. I also like trouble and conect four. and the two clasics, scrabble and monapaly
Scrabble is really fun and so is chess. I used to go to a chess club at my old school and everyone who went to it except me were boys. I should be getting a tactile chess set ofd my own soon.
Chess always looked like fun, but I never really learned to play. It seemed so complicated!
I'm no expert on chess, but if you want to learn more about the game itself, feel free to PQN me.
I'm getting a tactile chess set hopefully next week. Also, I tried to order a battle ships game, but there was a problem with the order, so I just gave up on it in the end.
I'm really in to Scrabble now. When I was little it was, Tic Tac Toe, Mancola (an African gme with little stones and a long bo>d with wooden bowls built in), Connect 4, and Checkers. I wish I had someone to play Scrabble with.
Damn, I'd love to learn how to play Scrabble.
Scrabble is fun and I got my chess set over the easter holiday.
My favorite board game is Who Knew. Well, it doesn't technically have a board, but basically you get 4 cards with different things on them. For example, one of your cards might say chocolate. You pick 2 cards from what you have and try to guess whoever's turn it is would like the most. Then you get dealt 2 more cards after each turn. It's great! I brailled all the cards myself. Another one I like is Buzz Word, where there's a card with 10 clues on it, and each clue has a word in it that involves those clues. For example, one of the ones I got, the buzz word was sea. Then the clue said something about a swimming tortoise, so the answer was sea turtle. So every time you gave an answer, it had to have sea in it. I know it sounds complicated, but I love it. I also have Say What, love that game!
Scrabble without a shadow of a doubt--chess I've just started playing but like a lot. Bingo is graet, but Scrabble is my favorite board game for sure.
Mine is Scrouples, and it's not actually a board game either. It's been awhile since I played it, but it involves cards with situation-type questions and other cards with yes and no symbols, and some other cards that I don't remember at the moment. The point is to try to predict what another player would answer/do for the given situations and the more you get right the higher the score will be. I've really been wanting to buy that game, but can't find it in any local stores. In fact, I've only found it in a small few places online. Maybe one day I'll get it or ask someone to get it for me. *smile* I also like lots of other board games like Perfection, Scategories, Scrabble, Monopoly, and probably most other games. It's a fun way to spend time with other people or to just try to beat your own score. *smile* But that doesn't include Chess or Checkers or games like that yet since I still don't get how to play those ones. Although this isn't a board game at all, another game I like is Uno. I had to mention that one since it's one of the most portable ones and the one I most often can play with my family. Me and my dad really don't hang out much even for living in the same house, but playing Uno is one time where we do and that's pretty cool. *smile*
God, I'm getting reminded of all kinds of board games I played, and forgot about. My all-time favorite board game is Scrabble. I have a really nice Braille set. The Braille ones they make today are shoddy in comparison to the one that was bought for me years ago. I also played Braile Kandy Land, Monopoly, and had an accessible Chinese checkers.
However, I played lots of games that weren't Braile. I like Outburst, Scategories, Encore, and one called Catch Phrase.
